WHO IS HIVSA

HIVSA is a non-for-profit company established in 2002 and is a strategic partner or Provincial Department of Health and Social development. We innovatively transform and empower individuals, socio-economic and health challenges that burden communities.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Children, adolescents and families in the HIV epidemic (CAFHE) Linkages Officer role works closely on site with the individuals and is to support sub-partners to meet their Children and Adolescents Living with HIV (C/ALHIV), PrEP and HTS targets.

The role also includes C/ALHIV case finding, recruitment and enrolment, which includes retention, monitoring, tracking, verifying, and validating all C/ALHIV before reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:
– Minimum of a Social Auxiliary Worker / Child & Youth Care worker, Enrolled Nurse or an equivalent, covering child protection, child, and community health.
– Registered with Nursing Council of South Africa or South African Council for Social
– Service Professions Certification in facilitation would be an advantage.

Experience:
– Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a primary health care or community-based nursing.
– Sound knowledge of HIV and Antiretroviral education.
– Experience in HIV and TB screening, counseling, and linkages services.
– Sounds knowledge of PrEP activities.

Competencies / Skills / Attributes / Knowledge:
– Understanding and knowledge of the South African social services and healthcare delivery system.
– Sound understanding and support of Monitoring and Evaluation requirements and reporting.
– Strong supervision and mentorship skills.
– Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and work towards deadlines.
– Excellent interpersonal skills, and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as report writing skills.

Working Environment:
– The role is based in Rustenburg, and the incumbent may be required from time, to
attend meetings at HIVSA’s Head Office located in Aeroton, Johannesburg.
– Support program teams based in other regions as and when needed.
– Follow a hybrid model of remote and office-based attendance as per company policy.
– Participate in high level on-site based activities to support program and implementation which include donor or other stakeholder site visits.
– May be required from time to time to travel to events outside of the normal office environment.
– May be required from time to time to participate in events and sessions outside of normal working hours.

Additional Organizational Requirements:
– Valid driver’s license and ability to drive required.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Financial Management – On a monthly basis, identify all C/ALHIV that need to be enrolled in treatment literacy groups and those that need to be referred for HTS and PrEP and submit the list to the Project Manager to request for money for sessions
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Management – Ensure that established referral linkages between sub – partners and relevant stakeholders are operationalised by ensuring referrals are received and stakeholders consistently engaged to strengthen recruitment, bi-directional referrals, and case management of C/ALHIV on site level.
  • Product and Services – Capacitate sub-partners to implement age-appropriate evidence- based and structured curricula to support treatment adherence and literacy. – C/ALHIV enrolment, service delivery, adherence support and retention. Ensure sub-partner Health Champions or CCWs update viral loads received from the Nurse in the participant files for each C/ALHIV at the CBO Quality service delivery of PrEP and HTS. Documentation, reporting and recordkeeping. Management of data quality.
  • Internal Organisational Processes – Be responsible to drive self, and in some cases, fellow team members to sites and meetings using HVSA fleet. Conduct Capacity Development Officers (CDO) duties when required. Work closely with CDO and M&E Coordinators to avoid program clashes.
