1. Background to HIVSA

HIVSA is a not for profit company which was established in 2002, and is a recognised training provider and a strategic partner of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Development (DSD) in Gauteng Province, with funding support from USAID and PEPFAR. It has two focus areas: health systems strengthening and community strengthening. HIVSA specializes in designing, implementing and monitoring health and community systems strengthening initiatives and programs to mitigate the negative impact of HIV and contribute to an HIV-free generation.

Choma online magazine is a project of HIVSA, which was developed in 2013, in recognition of the high burden of HIV infection experienced by adolescent girls and young women in South Africa. The magazine aims to empower girls and young women with the information and resources related to health, love and relationships, inspiration, sex and pregnancy, and fashion and beauty.

2. Scope of work

HIVSA, requires the services of a website developer to enhance/design a website for its online project, Choma. The service provider/agency will be responsible for the following services:

1. Design (including layout) a new website design (preferably in WordPress) that allows for the following elements;

• • Home page with navigation tabs (About us, Contact us, Polls, Quizzes, Surveys) header, footer. The home page should include visual/animated/transition elements.
  • E-commerce functionality/plugin
  • Section for blog posts showing views/comments on each article with “ share to” option.
  • Mailing list linked to newsletter feature
  • Tracking (link to Google Analytics + Google studio for monthly reports)
  • Advertising space (banner on home page footer and banner on each content pillar section of site)
  • WhatsApp Button
  • Identify or provide hosting services
  • Provide monthly maintenance fees (site security, SEO, etc)
  • Provide training to key staff on the daily management of the website

Expected Outputs

• Register and design a new website for Choma Magazine with the above scope outline
• Provide hosting services
• Ensure plugins work and are easy for daily management
• Train key staff on the management of the website
• Pricing on the above scope of work

Competencies of the service provider

• Experience in website design, graphics, and web layout (provider will be required to send HIVSA samples of previous work that meets the specifications above)
• Hosting services
• Maintenance services
• Training competency

Duration

The service provider will be contracted for the purpose of designing a new website which has a deadline of end July 2022.
